To meet the needs of a growing family, this home built in the 1950s was expanded for an open kitchen, family room, and dining space. A raised platform for the kitchen allows for spatial continuity, but also differentiation - additionally, it allows for unobstructed views of the whole room. This configuration is furthered by cabinets that act as thickened walls or free-standing elements.
